Residentie Orkest, Den Haag

Anja Bihlmaier zur Chefdirigentin des Residentie Orkest Den Haag ab August 2021 ernannt.

We are delighted to announce Anja Bihlmaier will become Chief Conductor of Residentie Orkest The Hague from August 2021 conducting a minimum of eight weeks a season for an initial period of three years. She succeeds Nicolas Collon, who leaves to take up a position with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and joins an artistic team which also includes Jun Märkl and Richard Egarr as Principal Guest Conductors. The position coincides with the opening of the new hall in September 2021.

Following earlier positions at Staatsoper Hannover, Theater Chemnitz and Staatstheater Kassel, recent guest conducting engagements have seen Anja Bihlmaier conduct the Deutches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and Lahti Symphony Orchestras in repertoire ranging from Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Schumann to Kodály, Bartók, Tchaikovsky, Louise Farrenc and Mikko Heiniö. Over the next 12 months she conducts the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, RTE National Orchestra of Ireland, Tampere Philharmonic and Goteborg Symphony as well as Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Malmö Opera and a new production at Volksoper Wien.
