Following positions at the Hanover Staatsoper and Theater Chemnitz, Anja Bihlmaier was appointed 1st Kappellmeisterin and Deputy Music Director at the Staatstheater Kassel (2015-2018) where she conducted a number of subscription concerts including Mahler Das Lied von der Erde in addition to opera productions.

Her strong musical instinct and fresh approach have earned Ms Bihlmaier numerous supporters.  Recent performances include concerts with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hanover and Bremen Philharmonic whilst outside Germany she has conducted the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony, Tapiola Sinfonietta and Lahti Symphony Orchestras.

Current opera productions include Strauss Die Fledermaus and Mozart Die Zauberflöte at the Vienna Volksoper and Britten A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Malmö Opera.
